ZAKOPANE LOCAL TRANSPORT

Local transport in Zakopane is quite ordinary and easy to use. However, there are no specifically marked buses or other means of transport. Instead, there is a system of mini-buses operating along a few main routes around Zakopane and the region of Podhale.

How to spot and recognize them? It’s simple, each of them has a sign placed behind the front windshield with the destination point and the route number.

With all the names in Polish, traveling to a certain spot will definitely become an entertaining adventure. Besides, for those willing to get a first-hand experience of Polish stubbornness and regional huff (especially on the side of the drivers), a mini-bus ride becomes a must-do.

For those traveling in small groups, TAXIs are recommended as the fares become pretty much equal.

For larger groups, our bed and breakfast hotel will take over. It’s simply much more reasonable as far as the price and comfort are concerned.

FARES

Generally you do not have to pay while hopping on the mini-bus. It is customary to give the driver a certain amount of cash at the destination place. Just say hello and head for a free seat.

The fares change according to high/low season periods, but the change is not too substantial.

Usual rates for the longest routes come between 4-6zł (0,80-1,60EUR) per person.
